Not all chemicals that clean have to be corrosive. Sometimes they have a phobic and philic end to the molecule. The phobic end sticks onto what needs to be removed, and the philic end sticks to the liquid around it. The force of the liquid moving is stronger than the forces holding on the 'dirt'. Therefore it basically just rips it off.
You can also tell if it's corrosive by putting some on your skin. If it burns it's corrosive and probably an acid. If it stings and dries out your skin (you'll also feel like there's soap where you put some Redex) it's an alkaline. However I wouldn't recommend it since you don't know how strong it is. Either way, don't run your finger under a tap. Dunk it in a bucket. Strong acids get much worse if you add small amounts of water. But large amounts of water dilute and neutralise it pretty quickly.
"Do what you oughta, add acid to water"... Don't add water to acid
Weak solutions will take 20-30secs before you feel anything. Mid-range solutions will take a few seconds. Strong stuff you'll notice your skin melting

I'm planning to use some Redex today, but not sure how to get it into the fuel tank. Also, should I be putting it in just before filling up or just after?
Also, which one are you all talking about?

I've also found in my local shops the very small bottles for cheap, one for fuel system cleaner and one specifically for injector systems. Which am I supposed to be using?
